Taking My Camera to Texas

Three drivers, four kids ages 0-8, and two cars. I drove down to Texas to visit my brother and his family for a special occasion. I wasn't about to pass this opportunity up!
When my brother and his wife had visited us in Kansas City a few months prior, we had plans to meet up for a family photography session. But fate had other plans in the form of a GIANT snowstorm! The snowstorm locked everyone indoors for a couple of days, and by the time the roads were clear enough, it was time for them to return home. Now that I would be down visiting them, I wouldn't dare let this chance go by!
Camera delicately near me at all times throughout the trip, I captured moment after moment. Our walks, the hours on the patio, the trips to the parks, I tried to capture it all. My favorite place was "The View."
We planned to go there during golden hour, right before sunset, but again, nature had other plans. A storm showered down on El Paso, almost sabotaging this trip's attempt at a family photo shoot. Luckily, the storm cleared just in time. We enjoyed a mostly overcast evening. Not bad!
Finally!
But pulling this off was a little tough, since I had to be in the photo myself!
I placed the camera on a tripod, set the timer to ten seconds, hit the shutter button, ran like a madwoman to my spot on the wall (which was covered with tiny ants that were NOT afraid to bite!), grab the baby, smile, direct everyone's eyes to the camera, and pose just in time for--CLICK!
All things considered, I think it turned out wonderfully.
